When the thermostat drops and the daylight hours are short, it is tempting to want to peek back under the covers and hibernate. However, maintaining a routine of getting outside combined with exercise throughout the winter offers tangible health benefits. The Lake Barrington Countryside Park District’s Park amenities are a place to get your winter fitness and fun in action. Kids and adults can “swing” through the playground apparatus, toss a ball in the open soccer field area or hike around the park grounds(which connect to miles of Lake County Forest Preserve trails). Can’t get there during daylight hours? The Park District lights up the main area of the park with holiday lights November 1st through February 15th.
Trick or treating started early this morning at the Lake Barrington Countryside Park. Families gathered to enjoy the mild weather, play on the playground in costumes and make pumpkin crafts.
Happy Halloween from your Park District Board of Commissioners.
The outdoor bathrooms will close for the season on November 1st. The outdoor porta potty will be available at the picnic shelter area year-round.
As we wrap up some of our outdoor amenities, there is still plenty to do at Lake Barrington Countryside Park! The Board approved at the October meeting to leave the tennis windscreens up on the tennis courts, to give the tennis and pickleball enthusiasts a little longer season of play. The park area will soon be lit up with holiday lights, which will provide illumination through February 15th for fun evening strolls through the park and more playtime on the playground.
As we end the summer season, new Splash Pad spray pieces have been added and additional landscaping around the park. Electrical upgrades have been added for future planning to enhance the park security.
