We are happy to announce that this weekend our Tennis Court lights will be upgraded to LED lights. The older halogen bulbs would not work properly with upgraded equipment that controls the lights for our night time players. A utility crew will be working intermittently May 7th-May 11th at changing out each of the 6 light fixtures. This will be weather dependent and dates could change. This should not affect players on the court, but please be courteous to installers and be careful on the courts.
On Thursday, April 22nd, the roof is going to repaired on the pavilion and maintenance/bathroom building near the splash pad. They will be working all day so please be careful if going to the playground area. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
The Village of Lake Barrington and the Park District are working together creating a new park called Songbird Park for residents.
Songbird Park Construction has Begun!
Songbird Park is located at 23872 N. Kelsey Rd., across
from Freier Farm, this 8.1-acre development will be completed this summer with
the help of a grant provided by the Open Space Land Acquisition and Development
(OSLAD) program, administered by the Department of Natural Resources (IDNR).
Construction is expected to be completed by August 2021.
The park will include a walking trail, fitness stations, and an overlook pier on the
pond. The path will encircle a mesic prairie, host to bluestem grasses and a variety
of native flowers such as coneflowers, black-eyed Susan, spiderwort, and purple
prairie clover. The hope is to have the walking trail connected to the Grassy
Lake Forest Preserve in the future.
